Event and Fundraising Committee Volunteers
Doing Good Together (DGT)
Doing Good Together inspires and helps families volunteer together. In the process, we raise children who are compassionate, aware of social issues and instilled with the lifelong habit of giving. The next several years promise to be exciting ones for Doing Good Together. We are seeking volunteers to serve on our event or fundraising committees. If you'd like to be involved with DGT, we'd love to talk with you to see how your interests and talents might assist us in furthering our mission. We're especially seeking folks who enjoy fostering meaningful collaborations and helping businesses, organizations and individuals find satisfying ways to give to the community. Experience with fundraising, event planning, development, cultivating corporate and community partnerships, recruiting event sponsors, promotions and marketing, or social media is helpful, but not required.
Time Commitment: Varies, depending on the position.
Ages: Adults only

Mentor a Child
Kids 'n Kinship
Date/Time: Ongoing opportunity
Location: Your home or the community
Kids 'n Kinship matches volunteer mentor families, couples, & individuals with children ages 5-16 in need of additional positive role models for fun and enriching weekly activities. We are based in Dakota County and serve families in Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Lakeville, Farmington, and Rosemount though our mentors may drive in from other areas. Matches are made based on compatible personalities, ages, and interests as well as preferences of both volunteer(s) and child/parent. Our families say that mentoring together ensures they have weekly family time and that it's easy to just include another child with the family activity, whether it's a board game, sledding, a trip to a park, or going to the zoo or a museum. We offer discounted passes to area attractions to make activities more affordable, a 45-minute information session, a 2-hour training session, as well as ongoing training and support. We ask mentors and mentees to commit to a year's time together in order to build their relationship, however many of our matches become lifelong friendships and our average match is about 3 years. Please consider being a mentor to a child - it is one of the most challenging and rewarding ways to volunteer!
Ages: Mentors are families, couples or individuals over 21.
Time Commitment: 1-4 hours per week, on your own time. (Very flexible scheduling: can be weekends, evenings or after school.)
